Reactive adhesives for locking threaded joints
Anocote offers a wide range of reactive and non-reactive locking and sealing systems. These systems ensure sealing and secure threaded joints against self-loosening under operating pressure and temperature. Application is carried out in accordance with DIN 267-27 or according to customer requirements.
These systems, also referred to as adhesives, include two possible methods of application: pre-applied or applied on site. Anocote focuses on pre-applied thread-locking solutions.
These adhesives offer a lower tightening torque than other common types of locking systems. In addition, they provide a high breakaway (loosening) torque due to the solid state and adhesion achieved by the adhesive after full curing.
Pre-applied adhesives are usually anaerobic or two-component, with the material placed in a strip around the threads and dry to the touch. When the fastener is rotated against its mating part, the adhesive capsules rupture, releasing the material into and around the sides of the threads; it then cures and forms a locking bond. Because the adhesive is applied in advance, the assembly time for these fasteners is significantly shorter than when adhesive is applied directly at the point of final installation. Moreover, the joint is more consistent.
Re-use of pre-applied chemical thread locking is not recommended, as subsequent locking depends on the amount of reusable adhesive remaining on the fastener after the first installation.
Anocote offers a wide range of reactive locking adhesives, which include precote® 85, 80 and 30, along with 3M ™ Scotch-Grip ® 2353 and 2510. Each of these materials offers different combinations of properties, sealing ability and operating temperature ranges, designed to meet current automobile specifications, such as WX200 and WX201, as well as requirements from Perkins, CAT, Jaguar Land Rover, and others.
